The Devices page gives you a live view of every sensor and gateway installed across your facility. You can see how many devices are online, browse by type, and inspect the latest readings from any individual device — all without needing any technical knowledge.
Device installation, provisioning, and configuration are performed by your administrator or the Sentalis implementation team. This page covers what clinical and operational staff need to know to monitor and interpret device status.

What the Devices page shows

Navigate to Devices in the left sidebar to open the fleet overview. At the top, a summary panel shows the total number of devices across your facility and the percentage currently online. Below the summary, fleet tiles break down your devices by category — showing how many are online out of the total for each type. Select any tile to filter the device list to that category.

Device types

Sentalis supports a range of sensors and gateways depending on your facility’s configuration.

Gateways

Edge hubs that receive data from nearby sensors and forward it to Sentalis. Each gateway shows the number of connected sensors, current load, signal strength, firmware version, and uptime.

Sensors

Environmental and occupancy sensors installed at beds, bathrooms, and common areas. Includes temperature, humidity, door, and occupancy sensors.

Beacons

Location beacons used for asset or occupant tracking within the facility.

Wearables

Wearable devices assigned to individual patients or residents for continuous monitoring.

Supported device models

Sentalis is compatible with the following hardware:
ManufacturerModelType
MilesightEM300-THTemperature and humidity sensor
MilesightWS301Door/window contact sensor
MilesightVS330Occupancy and vibration sensor
MinewBed sensorUnder-mattress bed occupancy sensor
MinewS1Wearable personal safety sensor
Your facility may use a subset of these depending on your deployment.

Device status indicators

Each device card displays a status dot and label that updates in real time.
StatusMeaning
OnlineThe device is reporting data normally.
StaleThe device has not reported recently. Readings may be outdated.
OfflineThe device has stopped reporting. Alerts from this device are suppressed.
Signal strength is shown as a bar indicator:
  • Green bars — strong signal (75% or higher)
  • Amber bars — moderate signal (45–74%)
  • Red bars — weak signal (15–44%)
  • Empty bars — no signal detected

Viewing device details

Select any device card to open its detail panel. The panel shows:
  • Status — current online or offline state
  • Last seen — the time the device most recently reported data
  • Firmware version — the software version running on the device
  • Location — the site, floor, ward, and bed the device is assigned to
  • Telemetry — a log of recent readings (temperature, humidity, occupancy, battery, and more) over the past 7 days
Use the Telemetry tab in the device detail panel to review a sensor’s recent history if you want to verify whether a reading is consistent over time.

What to do if a device shows as offline

An offline device stops contributing data to bed status and alerts. If you notice a device showing as offline or stale:
1

Check the last seen time

Open the device detail panel and note when the device last reported. If it was recently, it may be reconnecting automatically.
2

Check nearby devices

If multiple devices in the same area are offline, the gateway serving that area may be the source of the issue.
3

Contact your administrator

Report the device ID and location to your administrator or IT team. They can check the physical device, its gateway connection, and whether a restart is needed.
A bed monitored by an offline sensor will not trigger alerts until the sensor reconnects. If a sensor for a high-risk patient has been offline for an extended period, consider additional manual monitoring until the issue is resolved.
