Page layout
Every page in Sentalis shares the same three-part structure:- Sidebar — the narrow column on the far left. Contains navigation icons and the sign-out button.
- Header — the bar at the top of the main area. Displays your organisation name, the current page title, the theme toggle, and the current time.
- Main area — the large content area to the right of the sidebar. Shows the current page.
The sidebar
The sidebar shows an icon for each section of Sentalis. Select any icon to navigate to that area. Hover over an icon to see its label as a tooltip — useful when you are still learning the layout. The icons appear in this order from top to bottom:| Icon | Section | What it does |

| Bell | Alerts | Shows all active and recent safety alerts; filter by severity or ward |
| Lightning bolt | Automations | Configure rules that send notifications or take action automatically when a sensor condition is met |
| Building | Facility | Manage your facility’s sites, floors, and ward layouts |
| Processor | Devices | View connected sensors and gateways, and check their online status |

Your sidebar may show a different set of items depending on your organisation’s configuration and feature plan. Not every section listed above is available to all organisations.
Switching between dark and light mode
Sentalis defaults to dark mode. To switch between dark and light mode, select the sun or moon icon in the top-right corner of the header bar.- When in dark mode, the icon shows a sun — click it to switch to light mode.
- When in light mode, the icon shows a moon — click it to switch back to dark mode.
Your theme preference is saved to your browser. If you sign in on a different device or browser, you may need to set it again.
Starring wards for quick access
If you work in specific wards regularly, you can star them so they appear in a quick-access strip at the top of the Wards page.Star a ward
Find the ward you want to pin and select the star icon in the top-right corner of its card. The star turns amber when the ward is starred.
Access starred wards quickly
Starred wards appear as pills at the top of the Wards page, so you can jump directly to any of them without scrolling through the full directory. Up to five starred wards are shown.
